図書館作文 (続き-2)
  1. Owe Omollo (Boy between 12-14yrs)

It was on Saturday dated 6 September 2001 when I heard that the Sondu-Miriu people have opened a new library at a place called Base Camp. But then I was not sure with those people who said this, I tried aguing with them but then they just joked about everything and we left it at that.

The next day I woke up at dawn and was ready early enough to go to this Base Camp place and find out for my self this supposed Library. I asked for permission but them my Mum shouted a big No saying it was too early. I was looking so sad them my Dada said I could go though I was not going to find the place opened. I hurried along, on my way there I met so many people some were going to the market, and some policemen had just arrested some thieve as they pass near me my blood froze.

On the gate I saw some tow watchmen with radio calls on their hands. When I approached them that I wanted to go into the Library, they said it was not opened and that it will be opened in the afternoon. As from that time I realized that hurry hurry has no blessing.

Then I went back home and of course my mother was there, she asked me what happen and I told that I found the place closed. She was like did I not tell you a fool never realizes until they fall. Then lunch was served, my favourite dish was the menu Fish and Ugali. In the afternoon we were off again back to the Library this time I ha company of some other girls and boys both from Primary and Secondary Schools.

When we got there it was opened and there so very many people some getting in and some getting out. The room was cool and quiet. We first went to the shelfves and picked each a book of our choice the we signed for them and got somewhere to sit. There were so many people from different parts of our constituency and there was even water for drinking incase you got abit thirsty from reading.

In the library the books were labeled according to their titles, the ones in English together and the others are numbered and rubber-stamped by the name Sakoda.

It is a big improvement to learning in our Schools and our community as a whole. We go to the Library to copy note and take them back home to read.

I thank the government of Japan and Kenya on their good relationship to help us with lots of things.

As from that day I learnt that a friend in need is a friend indeed.
