When we reached, we are feared of knocking the door because we did not know the rules governing the library. Then we saw two girls coming we decided to wait ask them but then when we approached them and greeted them, they were like " what is this? Referring to the Library but before we replied we saw some people entering in the library and we followed them and went straight to the bookshelfs. The books were so interesting we did not realize what time it was until one the woman library attendant shout "it time, we want to close the library". We signed out and I returned the books back to the shelf apparently my friend wanted to take one book home without permission but then I stopped him and he returned the book.

On that day I learnt that a friend in need is a friend indeed.

A Library is a place where learning for different subjects take place. It is an institution for both adults and children. It is meant for the public by that it means that anyone is allowed to go there and learn. Learning for different subjects there are books for Kenyan and foreign countries available at Sondu-Miriu Public Library.

No one is allowed to go with any of the books from the library. Sondu-Miriu Public Library is an institution run by women. The women are very honest and they treat people as there own children.

Sondu-Miriu Public Library is situated near Kolweny market, to the northern part of Thurdibuoro Secondary School. The Library itself is a busy place where no one is allowed to talk to anybody, maximum silence is maintained. One is allowed to learn any subject one wishes.

In the Library, you are allowed to pick and read the book of your choice, but then you are not allowed to go with any book. The library is usually opened from 2:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. It is run by more than two women.

The room is divided into two sections. There is a section for adults and a section fro children. The children's section is found on the right as you entered the main door. The adult section is found on the left hand side of the room.

Sondu-Miriu Public Library is an institution that was started by the Japanese to Kenya for the construction of the Sondu-Miriu Hydropower Project. It started its work on 6 June 2001. The Library is a good one because it helps children and adults in the area since it is one division.

It helps children, especially from poor families who cannot afford the price of books in the bookshops. As to myself I come from Rachuonyo District and I don't have any single text book, it helps me very much. I can have time to read ny book of my choice as I prepare myself for my KCPE exams.

Since my School does not give books to its pupils and so very grateful to the Japanese fro introducing the Sondu-Miriu Public Library. I can see that I'm improving in certain subjects which I very slow such as Maths, Science and Kiswahili. And my parents give me fare from Nyakwere to Kolweny every weekend since weekdays its kind of tight because I come back late from School.

I enjoy the atmosphere of the library more than School, and the women are so very kind and a variety of books to choose from. I want to Thank the Japanese for the Library and the workers of the library, and my God bless them.
