PLEASE HELP US HELP CHILDREN IN NEED IN KENYA!

We are on a 3-year part-time Contract in Kenya; the Sondu/Miriu Hydro Power Project near the Lake Victoria, nearest big town is Kisumu.

The misery we are seeing is appalling; especially children that have defects or have HIV or AIDS are the culprits. They are not wanted, and many of them are just left to fend for themselves. They do not receive any love or care, and will just wither away if not helped. School fees are a heavy burden for many families, and are not spent on children with defects. Many children are without parents, or with only one parent. With a bit of schooling and care, many of them will have a chance to a decent life!

We have made friends with local women, on grass-root level, that also see the need, and want to help these children, but they do not have any money. Without any help, they will just die of malnutrition and of feeling not wanted.

So we decided to start a school for these children in need.

At our birthday party on the 20th of February 2002, we raised Ksh 5066, by auctioning off some off the paintings Marketta had produced. This money will do for about 3 months of schooling for 25-30 children, salary to the teacher and rent of a simple hut.

A non-profit organisation, with the tentative name "Children Need You, Kenya Foundation", is under registration. A bank account will be opened as soon as possible; in the meantime the Financial Controller will keep the money in a safe

Please help us to help these children in un-imaginable conditions, to have a decent chance for a decent life, something we all take for granted in the other parts of the world.

We will personally guarantee that every cent donated will be spent for the children; nothing will be diverted or spent for administration.

Financial controller is Mr Takehsi Okamura, a resident Japanese engineer, with a big heart to help these children. Mrs Mary Oyoyo, in charge of the Clubhouse kitchen, is in charge of finding the children for the school, in co-operation with the women of local community.

Please help these children from your heart!
